Maryland Naginata

We are Maryland Naginata Jyoshinkai (如心会) established in August of 2020. We train “Atarashii” (contemporary) Naginata while value on one’s mental and spiritual development. We are member of the Greater New York Naginata Federation  which is part of the United States Naginata Federation.

Our practice includes:

  1. Shiai Kyogi (Competitive matches) – full contact sparring with armor
  2. Engi Kyogi (Competitive demonstration) – compete on accuracy, beauty and harmony of prescribed set of kata (choreography)
  3. Rhythm naginata – perform naginata movements with music
  4. Ishujiai – naginata vs other martial arts (kendo)
