1.  Schedule.

  • Last Wednesday of every month from February until November.
  • Matches begin at 7:45 pm.

2.  Rules.

  • Adhere to current AUSKF rules.
  • Close contact (tsuba-zeriai) is limited to one breath or at most about 3 seconds or less.
  • Penalties are applied if:
    • competitor steps out of bounds.
    • competitor is too defensive after a warning.
    • competitor purposely stays with tsuba-zeriai too long, after a warning.

3.  Matches.

  • Match duration:  3 minutes.
  • Matches are fixed based on random selection.
  • 4 matches are fixed per person each match day.

4.  League table.

  • League standing is based on the points earned:
    • 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.
    • Extra points for:
      • Seniors:  55 and over and if the opponent is not a senior and ranked the same or higher.
      • Youth:  13 and under and if the opponent is not a youth and ranked the same or higher.
      • Women:  against a male opponent ranked the same or higher.
      • Competitor in a lower rank group against an opponent in a higher rank group.  (E.g., mudansha vs 2 dan receives 1 extra point).
    • Rank groups:
      • Mudansha
      • 1 dan – 2 dan
      • 3 dan – 4 dan
      • 5 dan and above

5.  Entry fee:  $50.

6.  Prizes:

  • 1st place.
  • 2nd place.
  • 3rd place.
  • Honorable spirit.
  • A commemorative gift for all participants.
